 What is Storyboarding?

A storyboard is a blueprint that eLearning experts use to assist them through every step of their eLearning course design. ELearning storyboards enable eLearning professionals not only demonstrate their ideas, but also deliver engaging and visually rich eLearning experiences to their audience, making the eLearning design and development process much more efficient (Pappas, 2015).

Foundation

Every screen in an online course's storyboard document will clearly show all of the visual, text, and audio aspects. This document might also include the learning objectives for your online course. Without this solid basis, jumping right into development makes production more difficult for everyone involved (Chinn, 2016).

Advantages of Storyboarding

Storyboarding can help learners who have difficulty with writing, recall, and expressing thoughts because it allows them to express themselves through drawings. For the younger students who do not know how to write, the educator can ask the student to share what is happening in their drawing. The visual imagery that storyboarding provides can help those who have trouble remembering what they heard or read (Bigham, 2018).

Disadvantages of Storyboarding

The process of storyboarding appears very time consuming if you are actually creating a video for learning. When researching cons of storyboarding, some say there are merge conflicts from other programs and problems with code review. Coding is something I know nothing about.
